Ashdene ‘Badger Race’ Weekend – Friday 13th – Sunday 15th March 2026

Our first get-together of the year saw twelve Outreachers gather for a spring weekend in the lovely Calder valley at the ever popular Ashdene Club. As always, we enjoyed the facilities including the pool, sauna and hot tub. A group of us had a very pleasant walk in the sunshine along the canal into Brighouse (sadly not naked). The highlight of the weekend (apart from simply enjoying each others’ company, of course) was the Saturday night Badger Race. You had to be there to know what that was about. Suffice to say that between us the Outreachers won five bottles of wine and due to the very generous bookie, some ended the evening with more loose change in our non-existent pockets than when we started!
Some comments on WhatsApp from those who attended best sum up the weekend:
“Had a brilliant time, the sun shone through the conservatory roof. The pool was warm and the badgers almost raucous”.
“As ever, a great welcome from the Ashdene crew, the Badger racing was great and it was really good to meet up with other members of the Outreach Group – what more can one ask for?”
“Great weekend at Ashdene. Fun, games and lots of nice people”.
Liverpool Sun & Air Society (LSAS) Easter visit Friday 3rd -Sunday 5th April
LSAS are a long established Naturist club close to the M62, so easy to find. Enjoyed Tea and Hot Cross Buns on Good Friday afternoon the sauna was also enjoyed after a good soak and relax in the hot tub beforehand ( Fridays.are their regular day for Sauna ) A dinner & social was enjoyed on the Saturday evening in the clubhouse. their catering is legendary along with the warm friendly welcome and it certainly lived up to the hype. Only 3 of us were available to make the trip to Liverpool ( all from Cumbria) plus David who is also a member of LSAS .
Table tennis was the after meal choice of entertainment lots of fun and gusto, if a tad too much after the bangers and mash! Saturday saw an improvement in the weather after storm Dave had passed us by ! Saturday night delicious 3 course meal was a joy and great value for £15pp with options for those with dietary issues. We stayed intheir recently commissioned visitor lodge which offered en suite accommodation and a kitchen with many nice touches for our comfort including fresh flowers and chocolates (It was Easter) Highly reccommended if you’re visiting. Sadly they only have the one. The pool was sadly out of doors and too early in the season to be able to use it but looks very inviting , the well equipped games room looked good but due to temporary storage gave us only limited access, however I’m sure it’s normally a very useful addition to facilities.
The after dinner disco was great to stretch those moves and throw some shapes .Sadly we were unable to say for waffles and ice cream on Sunday – sounded delish! 🙂 But we will be back https://lsas.org.uk/ and to see their facilities.

Geoff & Elaine’s Steak BBQ in Carlisle Friday 29th May 2026 ( FULLY BOOKED}
Our first one was so successful in 2025 that we thought we’d offer it again this year! At the end of the HOTTEST week of the year so far, we were disappointed not to see much sun on Friday but still sat outside for the meal Saturday breakfast for those who stayed over made up for it in spades so naked breakfast was the order of the day 🙂
“Massive thanks to Geoff & Elaine for a fantastic spread at the bbq yesterday. Unfortunately the weather god didn’t provide sun but it was still great to meet everyone. Geoff’s skill with the steaks was brilliant. Thanks to the hosts and all attendees ” Clive
“an enjoyable afternoon with Geoff and Elaine welcoming us all into their lovely home and garden. Looking forward to seeing the photo at the table. Great hosts, delicious and interesting dishes and thanks to Sally for thinking of Elaine’s tastes with an excellent banoffee pie. Tony with his ukulele gave us a chance to sing along. Great conversations, laughter and music. Thanks.” Annette
After a couple of hours drive through the Yorkshire countryside into Cumbria we arrived at Geoff & Elaines home, where we were greeted warmly. Tea and coffee was in plentiful supply as we waited for all the guests to arrive, and Geoff ensured everyone was parked up safely and those who were fortunate enough to be staying settled into their relevant rooms.
Sadly the weather wasn’t as sunny as we had hoped for and there was quite a breeze at times but we were able to sit outside for the BBQ. Conversations and drinks flowed. We enjoyed a starter of pig-in-banana, served with a barbecue sauce. Rather unusual but very tasty. The main course was a succulent steak (cooked to our preferences) these were accompanied with a lovely choice of salads, coleslaws, potato salad, potato wedges, fried onions and mushrooms.
And finally dessert…Tiramisu, fruit salad and Sally made a gf Banoffe Pie.
Tony brought along his ukulele and was happy to play and sing for us. Early evening people started to drift back home. Those who were fortunate enough to be stayingcontinued chatting and played a game ‘the alphabet supper’ which caused amusement and plenty of concentration.
The following day the sun shone! This allowed us all to sit outside au naturel for a full english breakfast. As Peter & Gillian headed of to the book shop, the remaining 6 of us walked into Carlisle along the River. We enjoyed ice cream and a visit to the Cathedral, where we found ourselves able to have a tour of the bell tower. Quite an experience! On the way back to Geoff & Elaines we stopped off to watch some cricket and the evening was rounded off with a meal at an Indian restaurant.
It was an exceptional weekend, with good banter and company.
Thank you!!
Brian & Sally
